Wall

A story I'm working on about a wall in a wintery wasteland that reaches higher than the eye can see. Its surface is pitted and cracked, and it emits heat that draws all manner of life to it. A small village at its base has made the wall their home and their livelihood, climbing and mining it for resources and living off the animals that come to it. A series of earthquakes and bodies afflicted with mysterious disease falling from the wall however scares the villagers, who cordon off any climbs higher than a certain point.
